A couple of issues here
-There's the etiquette issue - ripping the bread & handing OP pieces - rude. They should slice bread & allow OP to rip off pieces of OP's slice if desired.
-There's the safety issue - leftovers being left out to room temperature & then nuked - not the best idea because OP doesn't know how many times items were previously left out at room temp or for how long.
-General lack of concern about the above two things would make me wonder if hosts wash after pottying and/or other unsanitary activities, which shall be left to readers' imaginations.
The friends sound very casual & as such, they simply may not *know* how disgusting their habits are to some, not to mention potentially unsanitary.
My suggestion: Take whichever one of the couple OP is closest to out for coffee or have them over for a drink. Bring up the subject in as positive a manner as possible. Put your concerns in the form of a request, & it can be something like: "Do to my past bad experiences w/food poisoning, if I'm lucky enough to be a guest in your home in the future, would you be willing to do A,B,C? I normally wouldn't ask this of someone hosting, but since it's a health-related issues, I'd thought I'd risk the embarrassment of asking." Put the embarrassment on yourself, treat them as if they have nothing to be ashamed of & take full for this being your little "quirk."
My friend & I got listeria at a party once. The host swore no one else got sick & I suspect that's true because we got there late & were idiotic enough to eat cheese that had been sitting out. It was an unforgettable couple of weeks - not recommended.
